ITERATION 2

Iteration 2 focuses on the curved forms to redirect the eye through directionality. Starting Iteration 2, I wanted to start to test using more curved and organic geometry, and creating a sense of movement through the physical forms. The final form follows a curved loop, which begins at one point, and ends at another, offering a clear directional path.

Matrix - Key components

The matrix for iteration 2 focuses on the Growth Increments where altering the point attractors would change the directionality of the fragment. After coming to a final design through using the tetrahedron geometry and extracting a segment, I was not satisfied with the outcome, as the hard edges did not stimulate movement. As such, I introduced a Twist element, which resulted in the final fluid form.

Multiple Overhangs.

The user is inclined to follow the curved edges which create a directionality. These are continuous and wrap around the fragment, assisted by the smooth surface texture.

Open spaces for gathering.

Curved surfaces are able to change the direction of the light.

Fluid and sculpted curved surface have the potential to frame the view. This is similar to Aires Mateus Radix, which encouraged circulation in order to view all different framed views of it's surrounding environment.

Small etches and edges of the fragment emphasise the directionality.

Angle surface have affordances for sitting or lying against.
